Another Milestone!

Fallon was a real trooper yesterday as she came with me to my hair salon. Believe me, my appointments are not short! She was great! I promised her ice cream at the food court when we were finished. After ice cream, I decided to get my rings cleaned as we passed the jewelry store. The nice lady told me to return in a few minutes so Fallon and I decided to walk around the mall while we waited. When we passed Claire's, I told her that is where the girls go to get their ears pierced. Every other time I mentioned it, she said, "Oh no, not me, no way." Yesterday, she told me she was ready! I called Adam and we agreed to jump on it while she wanted to do it. I wondered if she would back out. I could see her getting more nervous as the supplies came out, when they washed her ears, and when they marked her ears with a pen. She said, "Mommy, please hold my hands." Right then, I nearly lost it. Why would I ever approve of someone sticking a hole in my child's head? Was she too young? Am I saying good-bye to my baby girl? I told myself to not cry before the piercing; Fallon needed me to be in control. After it was done, the tears flowed...from both of us. All of the sudden a montage of her life since birth played in my head. She looked so old, but more than that, the earrings looked so lovely and appropriate. She was ready! Now, we have 8 weeks of cleaning her ears 3 times a day and making making sure we turn them. She loves them and is so proud!!

Yeah Fallon! I love little earrings on our little girls :) I totally understand your thoughts and sadness about them being big. I had many of the same feelings.

What a sweet story... I am sure that I will cry if/when Carly decides to get her ears pierced.
