One thing that has taken some getting used to in Alabama is the EARLY sunrise. We are barely in the central time zone because we are in the far northeast corner of Alabama. Look at this picture I took (after being awakened by the early morning sun). It is 5:45am!!

I know what you mean. When we moved to Mount Vernon, WA (north of Seattle) we were surprised that the sun came up at 4 am in summer and in winter, it was dark by 6.
YUCK!!I think black-out shades are a must!!
